Little Skewer is a Chinese restaurant nestled on S Azusa Avenue in Hacienda Heights that serves up a casual, inviting atmosphere perfect for group dinners or late-night hangouts. This spot draws a lively crowd of friends and families who come together over plates of smoky, flavorful skewers and well-chosen cold dishes.

The restaurant’s vibe leans into a relaxed, bustling setting where the hum of conversation pairs well with the smell of grilled meats. It’s the kind of place you’ll find people leaning back with a hot cup of tea or something fizzy while sharing stories and savoring bites. The atmosphere strikes a balance between a straightforward neighborhood eatery and a spot that feels authentically rooted in Chinese BBQ culture.

What to order? The skewers are the star here, particularly the lamb and beef options that come out juicy and lightly seasoned, letting the freshness of the meat shine through the subtle smokiness. The grilled scallops with garlic vermicelli and pork belly skewers offer variety beyond just the meats, adding some texture and depth to the meal. For lighter fare that refreshes the palate, the cucumber salad is a local favorite, cutting through the richness with its crisp, cooling bite.

Service at Little Skewer is noted for being attentive without feeling overbearing, with staff who seem genuinely engaged and happy to help. The kitchen moves quickly, so food arrives hot and ready, making it easy to keep the conversation—and skewers—flowing.

If you like a little spice, the menu offers bold, flavor-packed options, but there's balance too for those who prefer milder tastes. The housemade yogurt and herbal iced teas provide comforting cooldowns that round out the meal.

Best visit times include evenings when the place buzzes with groups sharing drinks and food, making it ideal for casual social dinners or weekend gatherings. The setting is lively but not overwhelming, giving diners a sense of a community spot where people come to relax and enjoy honest food.

Overall, Little Skewer fits well into Hacienda Heights’ diverse dining scene as a dependable choice for authentic Chinese barbecue skewers with complementary dishes and a setting that encourages lingering and laughter.

Nothing beats hanging out late at night with friends, eating skewers and drinking hot tea, while chatting and catching up. The vibes here are IMMACULATE and the food is great! Definitely recommend the cheesy corn to eat with the skewers if you're able to! And the cucumber salad refreshes the palate SO well. It's a favorite amongst all groups of friends and family I've brought here. I've definitely also ordered out and went out to a drive-in movie theatre to enjoy these while watching the film :] They're perfectly fine to take home and eat if the wait time is too long for a seat in-house -- it's faster to order to-go on busy nights to enjoy the food.

We came here for dinner and had an excellent experience. The environment was clean and welcoming, and the service was fast and friendly. The food was the real highlight. The skewers were cooked perfectly with a nice smoky flavor, lightly seasoned so you could still taste the freshness of the meat. The lamb skewers were especially juicy and flavorful, while the chicken wings had a crisp skin and tender meat inside. The chicken cartilage skewers were crunchy and fun to eat, and the pork belly skewers were rich without being greasy. Everything came out hot and fresh, and we loved that the seasoning wasn’t overpowering. Overall, the food, service, and environment all came together for a very satisfying dinner. Definitely a place worth coming back to again!

An amazing experience at Little Skewer! The skewers were perfectly grilled, with a great mix of spices that made each bite flavorful and satisfying. The lamb skewers were tender and juicy, and the variety of options, from meat to vegetables, was impressive. The atmosphere was lively and authentic, making it feel like a real taste of China. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves BBQ or wants to try something different!

This place has BANGER food! Alot of the food is spicy but its spice with FLAVOUR. Highly reccommend the red soup, and cucumber salad together, the freshness of the cucumber helps with any spice if its too much for you. The service is amazing, always asking if you need anything, and the food comes out quick! Skewer wise, the beef and lamb are top tier, and if you can stomach eating a whole shrimp the flavour/crunch is amazing! Once you've tried it you'll want to keep ordering more, just be careful of the 'whiskers' as it may poke your mouth! The ambiance is amazing with the store having a cool hole in the wall chinese vibe, and the music is never too loud, just loud enough to be background noise, but you'll never need to shout to hear your friends across the table even with a full house of people. Store opens at 5pm so I reccommend getting there right as they open to get a table right away, anytime after 7pm and there will be a line as everybdody enjoys the food!

My friends and I went there on a Friday evening so there is a wait but is totally understandable. All the skewers are thin and bite size but are really delicious! They are tender and flavorful but most kinds of skewers tend to be seasoned the same. The place appears to be smaller than I anticipated but is really cute!

Pretty similar to the Diamond Bar location with a few pros over the other location. The line seemed to move a lot faster at this location. It just seemed like the turnaround was a more smooth operation. Menu-wise, it’s almost identical with a couple of small minor differences, mostly negligible. We didn’t see durian pizza on the menu here, but they had a different durian dessert available, but when ordered, they said they were out. Once checking in with the kitchen, they miraculously found some for us. At the DB location there are napkins that hang from the surroundings. This location, you need to request napkins like other typical restaurants. Overall, food and flavor was consistent to what we have grown to expect at Little Skewer. Solid. Nom nom nom!

This was just like the location in Diamond Bar! This place seemed to be a bit smaller, but the decor is the same. My experience was pretty good, as the waitress was extremely nice and helpful. You can make a special request for example if your kids cannot handle all the herbs, and would just like salt sprinkled on the beef skewers! They seemed to not have everything in stock as I was looking forward to eating the Liang Pi. Like I mentioned everything was pretty much like the other location, I just wished that the skewers would be kept more hot. The beef is a good deal, chicken cartilage and the king mushroom is some of my favorites. The rice bowls were pretty generous, and the hot pot we had was nice to have a change of taste and some more vegetables. This is a bit more further so I would probably visit back the other location unless I am in the area craving for this. There is plenty of parking and the remodeling they are doing to this plaza really does make it look a lot nicer.
